Tales from Outer Suburbia Professional Learning 

Discover inspiring and practical ways to engage Years 5  8 students with Tales from Outer Suburbia, the beautiful new series adaptation of Shaun Tan’s much loved book. In this virtual professional learning session, Dr Susan Bye will introduce the new education resource and unpack how this imaginative, distinctly Australian series can enrich learning in English and Media Arts. 

This session highlights practical, ready-to-use strategies for weaving Tales from Outer Suburbia into your teaching. Together, we’ll explore how the series can spark creative writing, visual literacy, critical thinking and rich conversations about belonging, place, community and identity. 
 
We believe this series, and its thoughtfully designed classroom resource, will become a staple in Australian classrooms for many years to come. Join us to discover how Tales from Outer Suburbia can open up imaginative, thought provoking learning experiences for your students.

Susan is an experienced moving image educator who specialises in creating engaging, accessible learning experiences and resources that support screen and media literacy across English, Media, and The Arts.
