Task 7: Writing Adaptations
A script excerpt for the first Round the Twist episode – ‘Skeleton on the Dunny’ – is provided below. Examine the script as a class, perhaps completing a ‘table read’ with selected students reading characters’ dialogue and the ‘big print’ (descriptions of characters’ actions and expressions). Teachers can highlight the text structure, conventions, dialogue and vocabulary.
After examining the script excerpt together, challenge students to adapt this scene into a musical format. Working individually or in pairs, they should consider dialogue, stage directions, and music or song integration while composing their work.
