Consent and Respectful Relationships Professional Development
Lights, Camera, Consent! Teaching Respectful Relationships in Primary Classrooms
Free online professional learning
Screen texts are a powerful tool for teaching consent and respectful relationships in primary classrooms, engaging students with relatable scenarios that connect to their everyday lives. Join us as we introduce our new resource that leverages popular media to address key curriculum links, which focus on developing students’ ability to seek, give, and deny permission respectfully and apply protective behaviours in various situations.
The session will explore how analysing familiar television programs, students can identify respectful and disrespectful behaviours, explore the impact of personal boundaries, and rehearse strategies for assertive communication. The resource provides age-appropriate activities aligned to short clips, allowing teachers to tailor lessons to their students’ needs.
After the online session we hope teachers feel equipped to empower students with the skills to navigate consent and relationships in both online and offline contexts.
