Lesson 9: Thalu - a place of great power

Reflect

The kids encounter the Nannas, who tell them that if they are to win, everything mustbe in its right place. 

  • Thalu is a place ‘of great power’. Have you ever been to a place out on Country that felt powerful? 
  • How would you describe the Nannas in 2-3 sentences? 
  • What did you notice about the ways the kids communicated with each other?  

      Activity

      The Nannas set the kids off on their adventure at the beginning of the series, to overcome the mysterious cloud making the Country and people sick. They needed eight special stones and a key… that was no ‘ordinary key’. 

      An unexpected reveal in a story is called a plot twist. This surprise is often hinted at or foreshadowed along the way.  

      Brainstorm in groups a possible ‘plot twist’ for your own story. Once you have identified a plot twist to work with, develop a list of 3-5 ways you could hint or foreshadow the surprise, before the big reveal at the end.
