About This Resource

Barrumbi Kids is a coming-of-age adventure about two best friends – Tomias and Dahlia – growing up together on Country, and dealing with the dreams and challenges of childhood in a remote Northern Territory community.

The television series was based on the book series by Northern Territory author Leonie Norrington.

This resource supports Years 3 to 6 students to explore and respond to the Barrumbi Kids series, and to compare this screen text to the printed text. The resource also highlights ways in which First Nations perspectives, knowledges and culture are shared with audiences through these texts.

Lessons can be delivered consecutively as a learning sequence or as standalone lessons. Lessons include:

  • 5E lesson plan for guided inquiry
