Are You Tougher than Your Ancestors? is an immersive living history series that pits the skills of today’s kids against the exploits of children from Australia’s past to find out how they measure up. 

Primary students from around Australia are invited to participate in our live Q&A session with creator Vanna Morosini, host Ghenoa Gela, and cast members Jeffrin and Harry from the ‘Milk Run’ episode. In this unique virtual learning event, participants can ask Vanna, Ghenoa, Jeffrin and Harry about the ideas behind this engaging series, and the work that goes into bringing a TV series to life. 

Since its recent release, Are You Tougher than Your Ancestors? has been enthusiastically embraced by Australian primary teachers. The series is frequently incorporated into history and geography inquiry topics, and presents a springboard for class discussions about culture, traditions, heritage, ancestry, independence, responsibilities, resilience, and empathy.

Are You Tougher Than Your Ancestors? Synopsis

Are You Tougher than Your Ancestors? is a fun and immersive living history series that pits the skills of today’s kids against the exploits of children from Australia’s past, to find out how they measure up!

Fun and fast paced, we challenge modern kids to walk in the shoes of a child from another era. Diving into new worlds, they learn as much about themselves as they do about history… and unearth some unexpected skills in the process!

It also aims to shift perspectives around culture and identity by celebrating the historical exploits of children from Australia’s many Indigenous and multicultural communities.

Series Themes: achievement, communities, culture and traditions, empathy, freedom, heritage and ancestry, heroes, independence, resilience, time

Series Curriculum Areas: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures, Health and Physical Education, History, Humanities and Social Sciences, Personal and Social Capability
