Consent and Respectful Relationships Professional Development
Respect in Action: Using Screen Texts to Teach Consent in Secondary Classrooms
Free online professional learning
Screen texts provide a relatable and engaging medium for teaching consent and respectful relationships in secondary classrooms. Join us as we introduce our new resource that uses popular media to present real-life scenarios that resonate with adolescents, encouraging critical discussions around boundaries, empathy, and communication in relationships.
The professional development session explores each lesson of the resource which includes short clips and corresponding activities that help students analyse verbal and non-verbal cues, evaluate power dynamics, and practice assertive communication strategies. The resource also supports exploration of sensitive topics, including sexual consent and online behaviours, in a safe, age-appropriate way.
After the online session we hope teachers feel equipped to support students with the knowledge and skills to navigate relationships with respect, empathy, and confidence in both their personal and digital lives.
