Teachers, are you looking for free online resources to help commemorate ANZAC Day this year? The following ACTF-supported content and resources can help students learn about the significance of this day in our national story.

The My Place episode ‘1918: Bertie’ depicts one Australian boy’s life in the final days of the First World War. Through watching this episode – or the three clips featured on the My Place for Teachers website – students can learn about returned soldiers, casualties of war, the Armistice, and issues faced by First Nations soldiers.

My Place for Teachers offers accompanying lesson plans for this episode to develop students’ understanding of the significance of ANZAC Day, and the wider historical context of the First World War.

‘Boy Soldiers’ (from the Winners and More Winners series) is another option for secondary teachers. This classic 48-minute telemovie explores the issues of conscription and conscientious objectors during wartime. ‘Boy Soldiers’ is available as a digital download from the ACTF shop
